The course started, and it’s nothing like I expected!
There is no real lectures to attend, just one seminar every other week and there is the monthly meeting with the supervisor.. and that’s it! Every thing else I do is up to me, which is causing me so much confusion 😐 .
Yesterday I thought the library would make a good start, and it was.. Alhamdu Lellah. I found two or three books which might be -kind of- useful for my research. I think it will be extremely hard to find resources about Kuwait’s art and artists here in the UK, my supervisor told me that it’s a good thing since I am really doing something which has never been done before, so this adds more value to my work.. and off course a heavier burden.
An interesting book I found in the library was about the image of middle eastern women in photography from 1900-1950 or something like that. The interesting part was a section about Umm Kulthum :). The writer gave a short biography for her (nothing really new if you have watched the TV series) and talked about how her image developed from when she started her career in the 1920’s and how she was portrayed as the young village girl until she died in 1975 as one of the symbols of Arab Nationalism or whatever. How useful these information to my research? Well.. not really important! but it was a fun reading 🙂 .
Anyway, I have to really start working now.. see ya..

I know it’s not easy … but it is not hard too … concentrate on what you have now .. if you start writing .. anything .. just anything … everything will be as easy as a water sip 😀

oh, I hate this type of open too flexible system
beacuse I keep spending my time on crap ,and when deadline comes I rush and I end up with work that is crap. Be careful, you need to know how to manage your time and set your goals, make them so clear.
and about the resources, if there are no books on kuwait art
why don’t you start meeting and do some video documentry as something to start with

The supervisor and I already set a plan.. the problem now is not with planing, it’s with the execution. I won’t even call it a problem.. it’s just a small obstacle which I will overcome en shaa Allah 🙂
